Case Study #5: Barr Construction, Glasgow (Construction)

Another example is the £25 million Schools project for Glasgow City Council undertaken by Barr Construction. The proposed site for the school was heavily infested and time was a major factor as building was due to commence immediately. It was estimated that 8,700 cubic metres would have to be removed costing £430,000. In reality it was more like 1,200 cubic metres costing £57,750. Saving the client approximately £370,000. The actual savings tend to be even greater due to the reduced cost of backfill.
