Another example is the £25 million Schools
project for Glasgow City Council undertaken
by Barr Construction. The proposed site for
the school was heavily infested and time was a major factor as
building was due to commence immediately. It was estimated that
8,700 cubic metres would have to be removed costing £430,000.
In reality it was more like 1,200 cubic metres costing £57,750.
Saving the client approximately £370,000. The actual savings
tend to be even greater due to the reduced cost of backfill. |
